HOW TO MAKE THIS TRADITIONAL KITCHEN IN AN OLD TICINO HOUSE BLOOM?

Does it really need something on the floor or is the old wood a picture in itself?

A good playground. A kilim in summer. A soft warm rug in winter. Or cleaned wooden planks, oiled, and some good kilimcushions on the chairs. Minimalism or luxurious textiles for that stark room?

HOW DO PIECES LOOK IN THE HOUSE OF THEIR NEW OWNERS?

Two tulus for trial in the living room. The one which reminds us of a painting by Paul Klee is the one that chosen.

The same appartment, another tulu on the wall. And a different feel in a different house. A painting and a tulu on the main wall.

TRYING THE KILIM IN DIFFERENT PLACES, HERE OR THERE

the first three photos show the same kilim in different rooms.

it happens often. One goes hunting for a nice kilim for a specific place. The office. It just does not look exactly right. By that time, the kilim has a place in your heart and you try it all over the house. It looks wonderful in a place you had not considered at all. Strange enough, the piece that was there before looks perfect in your office.

HOW BIG SHOULD THE KILIM BE?

a strong and graphic kilim can open a room, even if it is a small space

The luminous colours of this rare antique Shahsavan kilim define the room and the grand piano got a kilim symphony as it's worthy neighbour.

Two sofas with little place between them. Instead of putting an insignificant, smallish piece there, a new Karapinar Eye Dazzler makes a bridge and the sofas' strong design tune in with the kilim. Now we have a room within a room.
