HOW TO MAKE THIS TRADITIONAL KITCHEN IN AN OLD TICINO HOUSE BLOOM?

Does a room truly need a kilim, or is the old floor already a picture in itself?

A fine playground. A kilim in summer. A soft, warm carpet in winter. Or oiled wooden floorboards and a few good kilim cushions on the chairs. Minimalism — or luxurious textiles — for this austere room.

HOW DO PIECES LOOK IN THE HOUSE OF THEIR NEW OWNERS?

Two Tülüs on trial. The one that remained was the Tülü reminiscent of Paul Klee.

The same apartment — another Tülü on the wall. And a different mood in another home: a painting and a Tülü on the main wall.

TRYING THE KILIM IN DIFFERENT PLACES, HERE OR THERE

The first three images show the striped kilim in the same apartment, placed in three different locations.

This happens quite often.
You set out in search of a beautiful kilim for a particular place — the office, for example. But somehow it does not feel quite right.

In the meantime, the kilim has already found a place in your heart, so you begin trying it in different rooms throughout the house. And suddenly it looks wonderful in a place you had never considered.

Strangely enough, the piece that was there before now looks perfect in your office.

HOW BIG SHOULD THE KILIM BE?

A graphically powerful kilim often opens up a room. Shahsavan kilim and grand piano.

The radiant colours of the antique Shahsavan kilim define the room and give the grand piano its “royal place.”

A new Karapınar kilim between the two sofas.
Instead of choosing a small, discreet textile for the space between them, an eye-dazzler was selected — a coexistence of strong design elements.

A room within the room has emerged.
